Striving to be the hands and voice of Christ

Hosanna's Social Justice Committee works to:

  • Expand Hosanna’s social justice email network regarding relevant events and campaigns
  • Promote education, service, advocacy  and in the area of housing-for-the-homeless
  • Educate and promote a response from members on issues of national and international concern
  • Support local projects like the Jasper Place Wellness Centre, running sock drives, and collecting toiletries and school supplies for our neighbours in need.

Please contact us if you'd like to join in our work for social justice.

Hosanna's members work together to help our community, our city, and our world.

Below you will find information about just some of the many ways Hosanna extends its hands to others. Find your fit. Contact us to get involved.

We are able to offer hope and help in times of pain or crisis for persons of all ages through formal and informal visits; prayer and pastoral guidance and counselling.

Several Hosanna members are Care Ministers: lay people who have special training in one-to-one caring ministry. They act as Care Visitors to people who are shut in by illness or circumstance.

Contact us to arrange a visit from a pastor, or to seek special guidance, depending on your needs.

Hosanna has partnered with the Edmonton Food Bank for more than 20 years, acting as a depot for west Edmonton residents in our geographical area who use the Food Bank's services.

If you need assistance feeding yourself or your family, contact the Edmonton Food Bank at 780-425-4190 or online at Hampers that are ordered will be available for pick up on Thursdays, from 2-3 PM.

quilting: No experience needed!

Quilters meet Wednesday mornings from 9:30 AM-1:30 PM September to May to turn donations of fabric, sheets, wool, and scraps into quilts and Afghans for those who need them most. The quilters are from the Hosanna congregation as well as friends from neighbouring communities- a great ecumenical endeavour!

Newcomers always welcome; no experience needed! A "wannabe quilters" group meets in the evening on a semi-regular basis to learn basic quilting techniques and to support the regular quilting group.

Quilts are sold or donated to local and international non-profit organizations. Our Spring Quilt Sale will be in May. Beautiful quilts, all sizes, reasonable prices, too!

If you'd like to learn more, check out the calendar and contact us to find out how you can help out.

Dinner with a difference

Hunger and hopelessness are not strangers to West Edmonton. In response, Hosanna's Community Meals Committee and volunteers serve a full, hot meal 5 times a year, at no charge. We also often have items such as toiletries that those who come to a meal are welcome to take. We offer this to anyone, including our members and guests from the surrounding area.

It's not just a meal, it's also a warm welcome and hospitality. We have discovered that the meals are the starting point for a ministry that allows us to build relationships and connections.

If you are interested in this meaningful ministry, contact us. See the calendar for the next Community Meal date.
