Hosanna's heritage stretches as far back as 1949, with the establishment of Faith Lutheran Church. Faith Church alongside Christ Lutheran Church and Peace Lutheran Church became St. Luke Lutheran Church after a merger that took place in 1971. Gloria Dei Lutheran Church was established in 1959, as part of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. In 1973 discussions between Gloria Dei and St. Luke's began, leading to the decision to build a new shared church facility. The Articles of Federation were signed in 1975. These articles and the combination of various ministry functions brought the congregations together, culminating in the 1987 merger.
